Rheinisches Landestheater

On 16 August 1925, the Rheinische Städtebundtheater GmbH was founded with its headquarters in Neuss.

Members of the association included communities next to the city of Neuss such as Buer, Kleve, Emmerich, Gladbeck, Kohlscheid, Stolberg as well as the arts community and the county of Lüdenscheid Solingen. In 1937, the association was renamed to "Rhenish theater".

On the theatre’s 30th anniversary, the city created a building on the Drususallee, which remained the permanent venue of the stage until the year 2000.
In 1981, the Rhenish State Theatre merged with the Theatre on the Lower Rhine.
On 16 December 2000, the new venue in the so-called "hoarding-house" on the upper road (Oberstrasse) was opened. The Rhineland Theatre (RLT) is the largest travelling drama theater in North Rhine-Westphalia.
